Adding the Best Background to Underwater Images

When shooting a subject like this California Sheephead, finding variety in a background can create a dynamic image. The background is as important as the foreground subject and using artistic tricks like the Golden Ratio or interesting reef patterns will make a huge difference in the final result. In this case, the kelp forest suits the subject perfectly as a colorful background and part of the Sheephead’s natural habitat.
